I’m usually not one to buy into the hype (that’s an outright lie) but if you’re someone that isn’t easily sucked into the hype, unlike myself, please, please do yourself a favour and give in right now. If you haven’t heard (in which case, I recommend coming out from whatever rock you seem to be living under), our King Kendrick Lamar has recently released his newest track – and my current anthem – HUMBLE.
With Kendrick’s track record of releasing hit after hit – Humble being no exception to that rule – it’s no surprise that the internet blew up as soon as it was released. Multiple religious and pop culture references pop up throughout the video, the most prominent being the reenactment of Da Vinci’s ‘Last Supper’ which could be seen as a juxtaposition between the call for humility in the chorus.
Aside from the fact that the visual component of this is obviously A+, the lyrics and beat are a winning combo in my books too. I have nothing but praises to sing about this, but if you’re still not convinced (weird) make up your own mind and listen to it now.
Long live King Kendrick
