Every once in a while you find yourself stumbling across something you can’t ignore. This once-in-a-while-moment was brought to me by Untitled Apparel; a cool-as-a-cucumber start up NZ streetwear label established by four like minded high school friends. Having an overwhelming need to find out more about Untitled Apparel and what it’s all about I reached out; getting in touch with Matt, a 19 year old, second year uni student, and one of the creative forces behind the brand.
Even after only a brief chat with Matt, and Sam at Auckland Uni it quickly became apparent to me how driven and talented these guys are – juggling full time study with a start up business is a huge, huge achievement, which made their story and brand even more appealing for me to get behind. Meeting in high school, and then moving on to taking design classes together, the idea of the brand has always been floating around says Matt, but it’s finally been made a reality as of its successful March launch online; and with almost 1k followers on their Instagram account they show no signs of slowing down any time soon, thank god.
Their interesting prints, reminiscent of old TV static take you (well me at least) on a trip down nostalgia lane, and were the first things to catch my eye after finding them on Instagram. They’re really not something you see every day (or ever have seen), and in a world of copy cats and mass production it’s so refreshing to see individuality amongst bootlegs.
